Supposedly if you go into the cars system settings on the dash under RAB you can turn off the Sonar sensors then the RAB will show as off. That is not happening on my 2019. The sensors are off and it's much better but the RAB is not off. Had the exact same thing happen a few weeks after I got my 2018 Outback. I was using a non-Subaru sun shade that snagged on that felt/foam strip around the Eyesight camera and disabled the system. Runs and drives fine, there is no check engine light, eyesight works as it should, brakes work as they should. I was sure there were RAB sensors missing ... Once the RAB is triggered or disabled, it will stay disabled on the screen. If the system was triggered normally (brakes kicked in) then when you put it in drive, the system should reset. If is disabled in drive, it means the RAB has malfunctioned. Make sure you get paperwork every time you take the car in, make sure it has RAB issues listed, your issues and what they did ( or in most cases, what they refused to do).
